I look above during a swim lesson today, I noticed that the clouds were particularly dark. I noted to the mothers that we should post pone the lesson for safety. Then thunder struck as I was drying myself. It was a reminder to inform my novice swimmers on the topic of lightening: From the National Lightening Safety Institute
Indoor/Outdoor Swimming Pool Safety
Swimming pools are connected to a much larger surface area via underground water pipes, gas lines, electric and telephone wiring, etc. Lightning strikes to the ground anywhere on this metallic network may induce shocks elsewhere.
